Just before St Martin's Day, Torrecuso, one of the best-known wine villages in the Sannio at the foot of Mount Taburno, celebrates the new vintage with Novello e Castagne, which turns ten this year. Three evenings in the village centre with tastings, local produce and music.

The stars are new wine and chestnuts, the classic pairing of the rural autumn, alongside local specialities at the stalls. This tenth edition is run jointly by the Torrecuso Youth Forum and the Nuova Pro Loco Torricolus. Entry is free; tastings and purchases are paid for at the stalls.

Our tip: arrive in daylight for a stroll among the Aglianico del Taburno vineyards that surround the village.
