Limatola Castle, in the Volturno valley, opens the festive season early with the 17th edition of Cadeaux al Castello, one of the best-known Christmas markets in southern Italy. The 2026 theme is «The Great Advent Calendar: a Journey through Time».
The route through courtyards, halls and walkways is set in a Victorian city inspired by Dickens's A Christmas Carol, centred on the monumental Grand Advent Clock Tower: a giant Advent calendar whose doors open onto ever new experiences. There are stalls, decorations and gift ideas aplenty.
It starts with November weekends and then runs daily until mid-December. We recommend weekdays, which are far less crowded.
