The Associazione Alessandro Scarlatti is one of the oldest musical institutions in Naples and brings leading performers to the city every year. The season opens on 22 October at the San Pietro a Majella Conservatory with the Orchestra of the Teatro alla Scala Academy conducted by Marco Angius, with pianist Ruben Micieli.
Concerts take place at the Conservatory, the Teatro di San Carlo, Teatro Acacia and the Anglican Church. Highlights include Lilya Zilberstein with violinist Julian Kainrath, piano recitals by Louis Lortie and Alexander Gadjiev at the San Carlo, the Quartetto di Cremona, Ilya Gringolts and, in December, the Christmas jazz of Paolo Fresu.
We especially recommend the Conservatory concerts: a chance to step inside a landmark of the Neapolitan music tradition.
