In February the Teatro di San Carlo presents a new production of Aida, Giuseppe Verdi's masterpiece of love, war and reasons of state in ancient Egypt. Performances are on 10, 12, 14 and 17 February.

The production is directed by Serena Sinigaglia, with Renato Palumbo conducting. The cast features María José Siri in the title role, Luciano Ganci as Radamès and Elizabeth DeShong as Amneris, with Ariunbaatar Ganbaatar and Luca Tittoto. From the Triumphal March to Celeste Aida, it is the ideal choice for a first night at the opera.

We recommend the Sunday afternoon performance, leaving the evening free for pizza in the historic centre. February is also a quiet month to visit Naples without the crowds.
