The “Chiacchiere” is a typical dessert of the carnival period of easy realization and with the use of simple ingredients.
The chiacchiere takes different names depending on the region and the aroma used to flavor them. In Campania are mainly made by adding to the mixture of limoncello or dry white wine.
200 gr of flour 70 gr Sugar 1 egg 1 yolk 50 gr of butter or lard 1 Glass of Limoncello Oil for frying Powdered Sugar for dusting
Dissolve the butter without boiling it. Put all the ingredients in a bowl or on a worktop and knead until you get a homogeneous mixture. Let the dough rest for a few minutes and then spread out a thin sheet of dough. Make a lot of strips and then rectangles. Finally make two cuts in the center of the rectangle, to give the dough the typical form of the chatter. Fry in abundant boiling oil until the chatter does not take on a golden color and then put them on absorbent paper. When the chatter has cooled, transfer them to a tray and spolverizzarle with icing sugar.
