Museum of the toy of Naples

Museum of the toy of Naples

The Toy Museum of Naples is housed in the frame of the university "Suor Orsola Bae", one of the main centres of study and research that traditionally and conscious choice has formed and continues to form generations of children. Within this institution, with the collaboration of those who for years has dedicated himself to collecting with intelligence and scruple one of the most refined collections of antique toys present on the Italian territory, Dr. Vincenzo Capuano, professor of toy history at the Faculty of Education Sciences, lives as the place of a playful memory, with the sure aim of offering a wide and accurate overview of the toy world, from the oldest forms of the Roman period to those of the second half of the twentieth century. The Toy Museum of Naples is a museum dedicated to the memory of Ernst Lossa, the gypsy child killed in 1944, at the age of fourteen, from the fierce Nazi campaign of eugenics, after a year and a half of detention in a psychiatric hospital. The work was carried out with the contribution of the Campania region (L.R. N. 13/2004 "Promotion and valorisation of the Universities of Campania").
