The museum is entirely dedicated to the typical dish of the Neapolitan exported and famous all over the world. After a traveling experiment started in September 2012 on the initiative of the Neapolitan Pizza Association, the MIP has finally found its place in the heart of the historical centre of Naples, the Mediterranean Museum of Art, music and Traditions, to Piazza Municipio.
Inaugurated on 9 June 2014, the museum offers a wide exhibition of photographs, memorabilia, a careful selection of the ancient tools of the craft of pizza, carved in wood or made of copper, such as shovels, cruets and pizza-holder, vintage skimmers for Lift the frying, scales and sieves, but also some tools now fallen into disuse, such as the wooden tub for the dough and mortar for salt. And then a series of historical images donated in permanent exhibition by some of the oldest pizzerias in Naples, including the local historian of Magniti where was shot an episode of the film "Gold of Naples" with Sofia Loren.
The museum will be open daily from 10.00 to 20.00 and it will be possible to eat a pizza, included in the ticket price, at the end of the visit. During the year, the 300 pizza chef from the Associazione Pizzaiuoli Neapolitans will alternate with the oven to prepare the pizzas.
