Civic Museum ethno of Monteso on the Marcellan (SA)

It should be the objective of each one to pay the utmost attention to every cultural activity, in being or in pride, that had the purpose of investigating, testifying and enhancing the historical memory of its own country not only, but also that of concretely supporting every Initiative intended to exalt the beauties of the landscape, environmental and architectural, the ways of life and being of its inhabitants, in short, every outward manifestation, every product of its culture you want material, you want of ingenuity.

Already this is, of course, common heritage, so it is already in itself museum.

The beautiful landscapes, the architectural-historical ones can not be preserved in a museum room, they remain for obvious reasons where they are and only on site can be admired, but the artifacts, the tools used to build them, through the Wisdom of the hands, those are exposed to the carelessness of man and time, those, of course, need to be collected in order to preserve their memory and therefore must be catalogued, inventoried, restored, if necessary, sorted and preserved to be Made available to those who want to use them for cultural, educational and even delight.

From this arose the idea, in fact, to seek and collect every object that could testify to the activity of man in his environment, in the most varied external manifestations and with this represent the cultural fabric of our small community.

Some citizens, including by commitment have excelled Vincenzo sweater, Bitorzoli Raffaele, Albano Giuseppe, Francesco Vanna, each for their own skills, have embarked on the research and collection of testimonies, works, objects that constitute the Initial material of its preparation.

Finally, all the citizens were enthusiastic about the idea so much that most of them were also deprived of some dear object to make this idea concrete.

Many artisans and citizens including for their efforts are to quote Antonio, farmer Giuseppe, Gaspard Michele and Baba Orestes, volunteered to clean and restore some of these objects so that they could be exposed and therefore Admired in their splendor.

The museum is a permanent institution in the service of society and its development. It is open to the public and does not fail to carry out research regarding the local material and intangible testimonials. It, acquires them, keeps them, communicates them, and, above all, exposes them for study and didactic purposes.
The museum, was established in 2001 and, in 2011, received from the Regional Council of Campania-sector museums and libraries, the area recognition of Museum of regional interest (L. R. of 23.02.2005 N. 12-D. G. R.  N. 579 of the 29.10.2011).
